“Rebuilding the Grain Chain: Stories from the Coastal Pacific Northwest”
Karen Hills, Andrew Corbin, and Stephen Jones are the authors of, “Rebuilding the Grain Chain: Stories from the Coastal Pacific Northwest,” published in the September issue of Rural Connections. They discuss, “though the ‘localvore’ movement is alive and well in many parts of the U.S. it has focused primarily on fresh produce, meat, eggs, and dairy and has overlooked the grains that are an important staple in human diets.”
Hills is a Ph.D. candidate at Washington State University Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center in Mount Vernon, Washington. Corbin is Agriculture and Natural Resources Faculty at Washington State University Extension in Snohomish County in Everett, Wyoming. Jones is director of Washington State University Northwestern Washington Research and Extension Center in Mount Vernon, Washington and a professor of Crop Science.
