The Regional Rural Development Center's (RRDC) were established in 1972 as outlined in the Rural Development Act of 1972.

Each RRDC executes its programming in accordance with the Competitive, Special and Facilities Research Grant Act (as amended through Public Law 107-293, Nov. 13, 2002).
