Stephanie Malin is a Graduate Research Assistant for the WRDC. In the spring of 2007, Stephanie received her Masters of Science in Sociology at Utah State University. Her thesis focused on grassroots activism resulting from perceived health complications in a Southeastern Utah community which used to house a uranium mill. She will begin the PhD program in Sociology in the Fall of 2007, with concentrations in Environment and Natural Resources and Social Change and Development. Stephanie brings an active interest in grassroots activism and environmental justice to the WRDC. In 2004, Stephanie graduated magna cum laude from Truman State University with degrees in Sociology/Anthropology and English Composition, as well as a minor in Philosophy/Religion. She received Departmental Honors in English and a Presidential Recognition Award for mastery of the Sociology/Anthropology major, and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. In addition, Stephanie founded Truman State’s chapter of the College Greens (Green Party), was an active member of Amnesty International, and was instructor of the course BIO 444: Expanding Environmental Consciousness. Whenever she has the chance, Stephanie loves to do yoga, hike, snowshoe, and spend time in the mountains with her new husband! She also loves to visit her hometown of Algonquin, Illinois (outside Chicago), to spend time with her family and friends.
