Dr. Lewis came to the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 1973 to conduct research concerning the management and energy efficiency of agricultural production in controlled environments. As Professor of Resources Management, she focuses on economic development in the natural resource arena including applications and systems of delivery for conventional and alternative energy in remote areas. Dr. Lewis received her Bachelors and Masters degrees in mathematics from the University of Florida, her Ph.D. in theoretical physics from Georgetown University, and completed the MBA at the University of Alaska. She became Dean and Director of the School of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences and the Agricultural and Forestry Experiment Station in May 2002. Her current interests are sustainable resource development and marketing.
